Our work has clinical, empirical, analytical and computational dimensions, and we welcome applicants from diverse areas of engineering, health, natural, physical, quantitative/computational and social sciences as long as you are committed to learning about and interacting with other disciplines.

February 2024 – PhD studentship opportunities

Research area: Data analytics for global health and global environmental health


We welcome applications for funded 3.5 PhD studentships to start in February or October 2024 (start date will be discussed with successful candidate). This is an exciting opportunity for ambitious students to conduct interdisciplinary research on global health and global environmental health with emphasis on the applications of cutting-edge methods in statistics, machine learning and other areas of data science and mathematical modelling.

The PhD research will use multiple traditional and emerging data and apply novel methods to characterise health and its social and environmental determinants, at scales from local to global. Further details can be downloaded.


Applicants should have, or expect to receive, a first or upper second-class degree or equivalent in mathematics/applied mathematics, physics, engineering, economics, quantitative neuroscience or related discipline, and have exceptional quantitative/computational preparation. Studentships will include tuition fees for UK nationals and an approximate stipend of £18,662 per annum plus London Weighting.
